BASIC SAFETY TRAINING – WORK AT HEIGHT (WAH)

This GWO module enables participants working in a remote wind turbine environment to use PPE (personal protective equipment), perform safe work at heights, and complete basic rescues at height. GWO certified through ENSA.

CONTENT:

  • Risks, hazards, and applicable legislation
  • PPE (ID all legislated labeling and markings)
  • Inspect, maintain, store, don, and use relevant PPE
  • Anchor points and proper ladder conduct
  • Evacuation devices and rescue equipment
  • Rescue situations in wind turbines

DURATION:

Initial: Fourteen (14) Hours | 2 Days

Refresher: Eight (8) Hours | 1 Day

WAH & MH Initial Combo: Sixteen (16) Hours | 2 Days

WAH & MH Refresher Combo: Eight (8) Hours | 1 Day

PREREQUISITES: 

Participants engage in rigorous activity and should be in a good state of health, physically capable of fully taking part in all course exercises with a fully clothed max body weight of 285lbs (129kg). This program includes climbing up a ladder or tower, working at an elevated platform, and egressing from a height using rescue devices.

Students need work boots and a photo ID. We provide all other equipment.

CERTIFICATION:

All participants who complete the full program in accordance with the learning and performance objectives receive a course completion certificate and GWO (WINDA) credit (24-month expiry). 

LOCATION:

Groton Training Center, Groton, CT -or- Client Training/Work Site

AGE REQUIREMENTS:

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age for full participation and certification. Participants under 18 require parental consent.
