AIM
This program is designed to provide a Shell accepted course for all personnel working or traveling on, or over cold water, associated with oil exploration/production platforms with the knowledge and skills necessary to react appropriately to oil platform or vessel emergencies, aircraft ditching emergencies, care for themselves in a seas survival situation for an indefinite period of time, and to participate to the maximum extent in their rescue. This course is based on the OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization) standards.

Air Pocket Plus ™ Emergency Breathing systems pre-flight inspection and use

Preparation for ditching and emergency landing situations (practical)

Up right emergency evacuation practical

Rescue and recovery exercises (Practical)

Upright egress familiarization using the Shallow Water Initial Memory Mechanical Exit Release (SWIMMER) device (Practical)

Evacuation and escape training utilizing the Modular Egress Training Simulator (METS™)

Dry evacuation through an emergency exit to an aviation life raft

From ditched aircraft on surface of the water

Performing vital primary and secondary actions

Partially submerged helicopter escape through and underwater escape exit

Capsized helicopter escape utilizing the Air Pocket Plus ™, followed by inflation of an aviation lifejacket after reaching the surface

Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) while wearing a survival suit
DURATION
8 Hours
PREREQUISITES
* A statement of health form (completed on first day of course)
* Trainees are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of taking part in all course activities. Those trainees in noncompliance will be refused and billed for the full course.
CERTIFICATION
All persons who successfully complete the program based on performance standards will receive a Survival Systems certificate of completion and laminated wallet card.
