AIM

This program is designed to provide persons with the knowledge and skills to care for themselves and others in Arctic land survival situations. The program provides a practical understanding of hazards, hypothermia, required emergency equipment, and applicable procedures

  • Survival psychology
  • Survival patterns, hypothermia mitigation, hyperthermia mitigation
  • Understanding of topography and basic seas ice descriptions
  • Equipment and clothing requirements
  • First Aid/medical scenarios
  • Location/construction of shelters
  • Rescue signaling
  • Fire construction techniques
  • Food and water procurement
  • Land navigation and map/compass utilization

DURATION

8 Hours

PREREQUISITES

* A statement of health form (completed on first day of course)

* Trainees are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of taking part in all course activities. Those trainees in noncompliance will be refused and billed for the full course.

CERTIFICATION

All persons who successfully complete the program based on performance standards will receive a Survival Systems certificate of completion and laminated wallet card.
